Abstract:

The paper is one of two invited written responses to Dr. Jonny Rodger's published paper in arq: Architectural Research Quarterly, 17 (1) exploring the relationship on the Glasgow School of Art campus between the new Reid Building designed by Steven Holl and the original Mackintosh Building. The paper eschews the more predictable critique on the two exteriors and examines the character and form of the two interiors worlds and the unbuilt space between.
