Abstract:

The declaration of a climate emergency and Net Zero-carbon
legislation is driving a significant shift in improving
energy efficiency in dwellings. These improvements can
often increase thermal comfort and reduce annual heating
costs for occupiers, but a potential downside exists that can
impact the health of occupants. This article discusses domestic ventilation and energy, posing questions as to whether changes in the design of domestic housing are needed to improve occupant comfort and reduce energy consumption.
