This is a T-Shirt/ merchandise range I was invited to design for the charity Music Declares Emergency in conjunction with my band, The Soup Dragons, reactivated in 2023 after a 35 year hiatus. Music Declares Emergency is a group of artists, music industry professionals and organisations that stand together to declare a climate and ecological emergency and call for an immediate governmental response to protect all life on Earth.
The Soup Dragons have been away for a long time, 30 years of more depending on which final record release or last gig you count. Things have changed a lot in those 3 decades. And, in terms of the Global Climate, not for the better. If you think about those 30 years, the situation of the planet has dramatically shifted and this has happened while ‘our’ generation has been in charge. It’s clear we have been asleep at the wheel and we are now at a critical tipping point and very simply the more people know about the Climate Emergency, the more chance there is of things changing.
MDE have invited a number or artists and musicians to design T-Shirts that are sold to support and spread the word about climate emergency including Jamie Reid, Hot Chip, Anthony Burrill, Peter Saville and Joy Division, A-Ha, Thom Yorke, The 1975 etc etc. The are distributed through the MDE online shops and we sold them on behalf of MDE during our UK tour last year.
